I met a couple who were using the R1 Evo on their electric bikes and told me they were life changing. I watched some YouTube video reviews and read up about the M1 evo on the company website and decided this was the way to go. After reading the negative reviews on here I was hesitant but decided to spring for them. One of the complaints was that the FM radio was missing. Yes this is correct, no radio but no where on here or the company website does it say the helmet has this feature. The second complaint was about updating the firmware. As soon as I installed the android app I was prompted to update the firmware via a computer. I connected the helmet up one at a time, read the instructions for updating, and within 10 minutes had both updated to the latest software. Super simple! Now for the important stuff. I'm an avid cyclist who enjoys everything from long haul tours to quick rips on the local MTB trails. Between my wife and I we have 8 bikes in the garage (2 adventure touring, 2 MTB, 2 e-bike touring, 2 fat bike e-MTB). We ride together frequently and often find ourselves unsuccessfully trying to communicate through difficult situations on the trails or busy streets as she is not as experienced or confident yet. This has at times created tense and potentially dangerous situations where we are out of sync with each other while making split second decisions. Our first test ride of the helmets was a quick 30 mile e-bike ride through mixed bike path, road and trail. The intercom far exceeded our expectations. Voice detection was clear super accurate. Even when coasting down a large hill at 30+ mph I could hear my wife loud and clear. We knew after just a few miles of riding these were going to be a game changer. Our destination was a local vineyard and I was easily able to communicate 150+ yards from my wife who was waiting with the bikes while I went in and ordered a couple glasses of wine. Battery life was still high upon our return and I don't see it ever becoming an issue. The increased safety and confidence created by having such a clear line of communication at all times is indeed life changing. It truly helps unify and clarify decisions about potentially hazardous situations while riding. Some words of wisdom:1. Watch some YouTube reviews if you aren't convinced yet.2. Learn the button shortcut commands. There is a cheat sheet inside the phone app.3. Turn the helmet and mesh intercom on before getting on your bike.4. Use Siri / Hey Google voice commands.5. You can have GPS directions running simultaneously while also communicating and it works brilliantly.6. The back helmet strap ratchets down to allow for a ponytail to pass through.7. Be prepared to hear your partners comments on every cute dog they pedal by.It is so nice to be able to hold a normal conversation while biking together. The initial setup was a little slow and frustrating but once set up they are a breeze to use. Hold the top 2 buttons for a few seconds to turn it on. It will connect to your phone and says "connected". Push center button once to connect to the intercom feature it will beep and then you can talk. No yelling back and forth, just talk. I love being able to warn my wife of road hazards ahead or point out something to look at. As far as the fit, I have a big head and I was worried the large wouldn't be big enough. When I first put it on my fears were temporarily justified. It wouldn't go on my head with the adjuster knob all the way out. Then I realized that the back harness section could be pulled down and expand a lot. With it pulled down, the helmet fit easily and had enough room that I can wear a thick balaclava with no problems. I find the helmet to be the most comfortable one I have ever owned in 35, 000 miles of riding. The speakers are adequate for voice communication and they make it easy to hear my wife even on high speed descents. They do just fine for phone calls or listening to e-books. I haven't tried to listen to music with them but I don't imagine they will be good for that. My wife and I will never go back to riding without these helmets.I got 2-M1 bike helmets for me and my wife when we ride our Ebikes. I guess alot of people believe that communication is important for a relationship or something like that but what ever. Any way these helmets do give us to the freedom to talk smack to each other as we ride. Oddly enough being able to talk to your significant other does make a bike ride enjoyable, who would have though? The sound when talking smack is actually really good. Voices can be heard very clearly and cleanly almost as if you have your personal angle or devil whispering in your ears. It's so clean that you can even hear when the other person clears their throat. As long as you stay within the range you will be able to hear your significant other call you names and cuss you out clearly. If you're thinking about listening to music with these then just dont because the bass is nonexistant and really not worth it for music. The helmets are a tad heavier than a regular helmets but it's very mininal. So far we've ridden for atleast a 3 hr ride and the helmets have held a charge enough to finish. Yeah they are pricey and a helmet is a helmet but when you can have full on conversation with the ones you are riding with it opens a whole world of fun and extra long bike rides. Stop dragging your feet and get a set.My wife and I got the Sena M1 helmets to enable us to communicate while riding our ebikes! They are fantastic! Easy to pair, and provide crystal clear communication while riding! They totally eliminate wind noise making it easy to hear each other as we move along! I originally ordered a large as I was on the high end of the medium measurement, but returned the large for medium as it felt too bulky on my head. I recommend this helmet!Bought a pair of these for my wife and I. They fit well and work wonderfully! The operating instructions could be a freckle more clear, but we figured it out with much trouble. My only complaint is one uses a micro-usb to charge and the other uses sub-c. It would be ideal if they were both the same.We searched everywhere for helmets that we could wear and use to communicate with. There was nothing local for us even at specialty bike shops. Found these on Amazon and decided to give them a try. We’ve only had them for one day but have already tried them and loved them. It was so nice to be able to talk to each other as we did a quick 10 mile ride. We are impressed with the sound quality and the user friendly instructions on getting them set up.This helmet works perfectly for me and my wife to talk to one another during a bicycle ride. Voice is clear with minimal wind noise. The sound is tinny so not brilliant for music, but excellent for intercoms between bikes. Highly recommend. The helmet fits well and is comfortable, the rear lights work well, but there is a lot of wind noise over 15mph from the helmet. The feature that should be the best is the most disappointing the audio is awful in coming calls cannot be heard properly sounding glitchy and music is shrill and tinny. I have returned the helmet for a refund.Good productGreat fitting, easy set up, clear communication.
