MXR Smart Gate Pro Guitar Pedal - Noise Gate & Signal Processor for Clean Tones | Perfect for Studio Recording & Live Performances

First off, I bought this to use with my EVH 5150III 100S heads (which were designed using the M-108 in the effects loop.. since that's what Eddie used), and I also thought having the remote footswitch would make it more usable than any of the ISP ProRack G models. I really wanted to like it.. Unfortunately, just like the M-108 (pedal), it can work great in front of the amp, but not well at all in the effects loop. I tried using each channel in the front and loop of one amp, and in the loop of two amps, and couldn't get it to work right. It didn't help that the manual was one paragraph long, only explaining how to use Channel A, but not describing the "Sync" function, or why each channel has a "pass" output, etc., and there are no videos online showing someone using it. It seems to only work as a 2 channel gate in front of your amp, if you need to switch between "Hiss" and "Full",bfor instance... or, like the pedal, it may be okay in the effects loop if you play 70's-80's hard rock, but it's definitely not worth $600+ (including the remote and 6 cables).For modern metal, I know I'm much better off using an ISP ProRack G "Stereo Mod" in both loops, and using a single gate (Fortin Zuul, ISP Decimator, or the black MXR Smart Gate) in front of my "ABY" (amp splitter/doubler), when needed.
